5.11.14

Lectio: Jn 10.11-18

Meditatio: “I [Jesus] am the good shepherd, a good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.” Jn 10 11

Oratio: "O God, Your Son came to shepherd us with His love and His strength so that we would be able to successfully journey back to you.

I remember Jesus referred to Himself as the ‘good shepherd’ and that image is certainly one of strength and dedication. Then He declared that He is willing to die for His sheep and He would die - what great love He has! In prayer seek to always follow the lead of the Good Shepherd made present to us in His church and we will one day be greatly blest with a place n His home.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio: “good shepherd...lays down...life...sheep;” Jesus has the power to lay down His life for us and He did; and He also had the power to take up His life again; and He did. Thus we can count on Jesus today to shepherd us home to the Father if we simply follow His voice made present in the words that our proclaimed in scripture in church, as well as in Eucharist, and in the successor to His apostles. Pray for the grace to listen and then to act.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 10.22-30
