5.16.14

Lectio: Jn 14.7-14

Meditatio: “Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or else, believe because of the works themselves.” Jn 14.11

Oratio: O God, how You wish that we know You!

I remember Jesus said that to know Him was to know You because He is in You and You are in Him - the unity of the Trinity finds part of its foundation in His words. May we always rejoice in knowing that You are so kind, compassionate and merciful for that is what Jesus has manifested to us.

Grant that I may always recognize the unity of the Trinity and rejoice in a glimmer of insight into this great mystery given to us by Jesus and testified to by His works.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "I am in the Father....Father is in me”; a clear declaration of the indwelling and the unity of the Father and the Son and applies to the Trinity for the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit that Jesus sends when He leaves us is both His Spirit and the Father’s and yet all three are distinct despite the unity. In prayer may I rejoice in the unity of the Trinity and know that what a kind and loving God we have.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 14.1-12
