5.22.14

Lectio: : Jn 15.12-17

Meditatio: “ You are my friends if you do what I command you,” Jn 15.14

Oratio: O God, how wonderful and endearing You are!

I remember Your Son told us we are His friends - wow!   Your Son is first and foremost our
God, yet He wants to relate to us as friends and He gave us how to accept His friendship. In prayer seek to love one another for that is His wish and His command if we desire to be His friend.

Grant that I may always love You with my whole heart, my whole soul and my whole strength and my neighbor for that is what love demands.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:  "My friends...if...do....command”; Jesus makes this offer of friendship to all who are His followers but He makes it conditional; in prayer seek the grace to love others always for this is His commandment and He will grace us with His friendship.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 15.18-21
