8.16.15

Lectio:  Mt 19.16-22

Meditatio: “Jesus said to him,’ If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me’.” Mt 16.21

Oratio: O God, You have greatly honored us by calling us to perfection; and yet You know how difficult it is for us to answer Your call as evidenced by the rich young man who kept all Your commandments but could not give up his possessions. Pray to strive to be in right relationship with God, others and self for that is what perfection is all about.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: “wish...perfect...sell...give....poor...follow”; we are all called to perfection by God and we all want to be perfect;  but sadly, too often we are unwilling to pay the price. Seek the grace to live a  life of selfless love and you will attain the perfection God wants of you.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 19.23-30
