8.22.15

Lectio: Jn 6.60-69

Meditatio: “Jesus then said to the Twelve, ‘Do you also want to leave’?” Jn 6.67

Oratio: O God, Your Son was hurt when many of His followers chose to no longer walk with Him because they found His Bread of Life Discourse to hard to endure especially that He would give His very body to them to eat.  But they should have believed Hm for He had shown His great power in multiplication the five loaves and two fish and feeding 5000,  and His walking on the stromy sea of Galilee. Pray that I may always partake of the Eucharist worthily for in this Sacrament the very body and blood of Jesus is present and given to us as food for the journey to the kingdom.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: “Do...want to leave”’ after many of Jesus’ followers left because He said He would give them is very body to eat, He posed the question to the Twelve as to whether they wanted to leave. Fortunately they said No. Seek the grace to always remain close to Jesus and do so by receiving the Eucharist frequently and worthily for therein lies eternal life for us with Him.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 1.45-51
