8.30.15

Lectio  Lk 4.16-30 29.15

Meditatio: “And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his  mouth. They also asked, ‘Isn’t this the son of Joseph?’...When the people in the synagogue heard thus, they were fille d with fury.” Lk 22,2

Oratio: O God, how fickle we are. First the reaction to Your Son at Nazareth was one of amazement; but when He spoke of past wrongdoings of the people, they were filled with fury. Pray that I may always listen attentively to the words of Scripture for they are the words of eternal life.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: “spoke highly....filled...fury”;  Jesus words are spirit and truth, yet we often want not to hear Him but only what we want to hear. Seek the grace to be open to Jesus and allow His words to penetrate one’s heart and take hold and be our beacon.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 4.31-37
