Lectio: Lk 6.30-42

“Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the beam in your own?” Lk 6.41

“O God, You know our tendency to judge others and You do not want us to do so.
I remember Jesus told a parable about noticing the splinter in one’s brother’s eye but not noticing that the beam in your own eye - how clear for the need of self-criticism.
Grant that I may avoid judging others and judge only myself for judgment belongs to You.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

Operatio: Reflect on “self-criticism” - introspection and self-judgment; requires humility and grace to do so; in prayer ask for the grace for the habit of avoiding the judging of others and focus each day on one’s own failings and what needs to be done to overcome them.

Tomorrow’s readings: Lk 6.43-49
