9/17/11

Lectio: Mt 20.1-16a

“...these last ones worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who bore the day’s burden and the heat’.” Mt 20.12

“O God, You are merciful and generous to all.

I remember Jesus told a parable about how Your kingdom and He likened it to an owner of a vineyard who hired workers at different times during the day to help and at the end of the day paid all the same - how puzzling - but the point Jesus was making is that You grant a place in the kingdom no matter how late in life one begins to love and serve you.

Grant that I may always remember that You are generous and merciful and always place my trust in You and do what I can.

I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

Operatio: Reflect on “God’s generosity” - astonishing; wonderful for all of us; pure gift, without measuring; In prayer thank God for being so generous and merciful and for the grace to do likewise.

Tomorrow’s readings: Lk 8.16-18
