Lectio: Lk 4.21-30

Meditatio: "When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were filled with fury." Lk 4.28

Oratio: "O God, You know how fickle we are yet You love us - how patient You are with us!

I remember when Your Son preached for the first time in Nazareth the people were first amazed and by the time He was finished speaking they wanted to kill Him - Why? Because He reminded them that the great prophets had performed miracles for foreigners and He had done the same and they were jealous for they thought they had first claim on the Messiah!

Grant that I may be mindful of how jealousy can cloud my vision and seek the grace to be patient and to be understanding and to rejoice in the good fortunes of others for that is Your way.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the

Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect on "fury"; livid anger; uncontrolled anger; an emotion gone awry; in prayer thank God for the emotions He has given me and for the grace to keep them under control so that they serve the purpose for which they were given (anger is given us to produce adrenaline so that we can fight if attacked: and not become masters over me.

Tomorrow's reading :Mk 5. 1-20
