Lectio Lk 13.1-9

Meditatio: "Or the eighteen people who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them - do you think they were more guilty than anyone else who lived in Jerusalem." Lk 13.4

Oratio: "O God, tragedies and sufferings are part of the human condition - but why?

I remember Jesus made it clear that the it was not because they were being punished for their sins when He commented on the eighteen who were killed by a tower falling upon them.

Grant that I may let the "Whys" of tragedies, sufferings go for they cannot be answered in this life; but give me the grace to draw closer to You in good times and in bad times - knowing Your love is always there for me.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the

Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Reflect on "sufferings and tragedies" physical evils which impact on us; bad things do happen to good people; the ‘whys’‘ cannot be answered this side of life; but it is definite that we cannot conclude that is a sign of our having sinned and our being punished for our sins.; in prayer thank God for being there for us in good times and in bad kowing that He can make all things work for our good.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 4.24-30
