Lectio Mt 5.17-19

Meditatio: "I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." Mt 5.20

Mt 18.22

Oratio: "O God, You gave us Your ten commandments to guide us in right living.

I remember the religious elite made the letter of the law the way to live and they were good at doing so. - but Your Son condemned their righteousness.

Grant that I may abide by the spirit of the Law knowing that the spirit of the law is captured in the great Law of Love.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the

Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Reflect on "righteousness"; in compliance; in prayer thank Jesus for setting the record straight - that literalism is not the way to You but love is the way; in prayer thank God for loving me so and for the grace to live as true child of His by loving Him and others as I love myself.

Tomorrow's reading: :Lk 1.14-23
