Lectio: Jn 20.1-9
Meditatio: "Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed." Jn 20.8
Oratio: "O God, seeing leads to believing and You have given us our senses so we could come to an understanding of even the most mysterious of happenings.
I remember John saw the burial cloths in the empty tomb and the head cloth neatly folded and he believed that Jesus had been raised - what an insight!
Grant that I may rely on my senses to increase and support my faith for there is so much evidence to support it - the shroud of Turin, Juan Diego’s tilma and Lanciano to name a few.
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the
Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on "saw and believed"; seeing is believing - but what? An empty tomb with burial clothing only - yet it lead to John believing that Jesus had been raised even before seeing the risen Lord that first Easter; in prayer thank the Lord for our senses and for the grace to use them to help and strengthen our faith.
Tomorrow's reading: Jn 2Mt 28.8-15
