Lectio :Jn 11.45-56
Meditatio: "" nor do you consider that it is better that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish." Jn 11.50
Oratio: "O God, You want us to trust You, but too often we put our trust in people to our peril.
I remember the religious elite accepted the judgment of Caiphas, their high priest, who proposed that Jesus be put to death so that the Roman would not be upset and take over the nation - but alas the Romans would do just that following Jesus’ death!.
Grant that I may always trust in You and in those You appoint to guide us on my journey back to You for Your judgment is always true.
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the
Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on "instead of the people"; in place of; the people as a whole, one may voluntarily give his life to save others but society may not force one to do so for that is taking an innocent life which is never justified. In prayer thank God for the moral guidance provided by the Church in especially difficult situations for the Church has as one of its mission to guide us home to You by making right choices on the way.
