Lectio Jn 4.43-54
Meditatio: "Jesus said to him [a royal official], ‘Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe’." Jn 4. 48
Oratio: "O God, You know how hard it is for us to believe in things unseen.
I remember Your Son declared this to a royal official of Capernaum who wanted Jesus to come down and cure his son who was dying. And Jesus did in fact cure his son long distance for Jesus was in Cana at the time and because the official believed Jesus’ word that his son lives, his son did live and the official and his whole household believed.
Grant that I may be ever grateful for the greatest sign You gave us - Your Son’s life, death and resurrection - for it shows the depth of Your love and Your granting us a share in Your Son’s victory over death - our greatest blessing and miracle. .
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the
Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on "wonders"; miracles, results that are beyond our capabilities; the Resurrection, the cure of the deaf, the blind, the lame; Fatima, Lourdes, Guadalupe; in prayer thank God for the may signs that His Son and His mother have given us so that what we believe and cannot see, we can know is in fact so. And seek the grace to live the Good News which is the sure path to attain to the everlasting happiness You desire for all of us.
