Lectio : :Jn 10.31-42
Meditatio: ""The Jews answered him [Jesus], ‘We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy. You, a man, are making yourself God’." Jn 10.33
Oratio: "O God, how stubborn and obstinate we are at times!
I remember the religious elite refused to accept the miracles that Jesus performed as a sign of His divinity and tried to stone Him when he proclaimed He was God,
Grant that I may always open to the various ways in which You make Your will known and especially to the ways revealed by Your Son for His ways are truth.
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the
Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on "blasphemy"; a claim to be God or to have the power of God when one is not; under the Mosaic law such a claim was punishable by death by stoning; in prayer thank Jesus for being so patient with us and continuing His mission and accomplishing it in the face of such obstinacy.
Tomorrow's reading: :Jn 11.45-56
P.S. Happy Spring!
