Lectio - Jn 20.19-23

Meditatio: “When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.” Jn 20.20

Oratio: "O God, peace - harmony with You, others, self and the environment - is Your plan for us.

I remember Jesus made this clear when He appeared to His disciples that first Easter Sunday evening and showed them his wounds - the result of horrible torture - and declared “peace” to them. He was able to do so because by His death he conquered the enemy of everlasting peace for us.

Grant that I may see Jesus’ wounds as a living symbol of my peace through forgiving love.

I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Today I will contemplate the five wounds of Jesus as the source of lasting peace through a forgiving love.

Tomorrow’s selection is from Mk 10.17-27
