Lectio - Mk 12.13-17

Meditatio: “So Jesus said to them, ‘Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.’ They were utterly amazed at him.” Mk 12.17

Oratio: "O God, if we are open to Your Spirit, we will overcome conflicts in a positive way.

I remember Jesus overcame the attempted ensnarement of him by the Pharisees and Herodians over the issue of paying taxes by using Caesar’s coin and a Spirit filled question, ‘Whose image.’ And his opponents were ‘utterly amazed.’

Grant that in time of conflict I may always turn to Your Spirit for His help to diffuse it.

I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Today I will read Mk1.13-34 to see how Jesus handled a variety of conflicts with his opponents and silenced them.

Tomorrow’s selection is from Mk 12.18-27

"Have a great Memorial Day!"
