Lectio - Mt 14.22-36
Meditatio: “Immediately, Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt’.” Mt 14.31
Oratio: "O God, You do not require us to have much faith to be saved for You know how difficult it is for us to believe.
I remember Jesus responded to Peter’s cry to save him when he was sinking as he walked on the water towards Jesus even though Peter had little faith and had in fact doubted.
Grant that in my trying moments I may cry out to You as Peter did with what faith I have knowing that my cry will get Your attention and You will act on my behalf.
I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.”
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Today, I will reflect on my faith to see if I would respond as Peter did and get out of my boat and walk on water at Jesus’ invite, or would I simply remain in the safety of the boat. If I would, I will ask God for a faith that would be as weak as Peter’s. .
