Lectio - Lk 4.38-44

Meditatio: “At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases, brought them to himi. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them.” Lk 4.40

Oratio: "O God, how wonderful and mighty are Your works!

I remember in Capernaum Jesus cured the many who were sick by simply laying his hands on them or rebuking the evil spirits that were in them.

Grant that I may always turn to You in my needs or the needs of those who are near and dear to me for Your Spirit continues to be present in a real and personal way in the sacraments we receive.

I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: May I always remember Jesus’ actions when I minister the sacrament of the sick and especially when I lay my hands on their foreheads and then anoint them with the Holy Oils and realize that in doing so I have the great privilege of making Jesus present to them to heal them, to strengthen them, to comfort them.

Tomorrow’s reading - Lk 5.1-11
