9.07.15

Lectio  Mt 1.18-23

Meditatio: "Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child h as been conceived in her’.” Mt 1.20

Oratio: O God, Your ways are so mysterious at times and yet so wonderful! I remember when Joseph was thinking of divorcing Mary quietly when he found that she was pregnant, You sent Your angel to him in a dream. It was so real to Joseph, that following the assurance he received in the dream, he took Mary into his home as His wife;  and Jesus would have an intact family who would guide Him and raise in a healthy an holy environment. Pray to be open to the many and varied ways in which God speaks so as to not miss out on the wonderful plans He has for us.
.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: “angel... dream....do not be afraid...Mary...your home?” Joseph proper concern that Mary was pregnant by another man was dispelled by God sending an angel to set the record straight and to assure Joseph he should take Mary into his home as his wife. Seek the grace to be opened to God’s will as Joseph was;  and pray to St. Joseph for your needs and especially for the needs of your family.

Tomorrow's reading:Lk 6.20-26
