8/16/11

Lectio: Mt 20.1-16

“So when the first came they thought they would receive more, but each received the usual daily wage.” Mt 20.10

“ O God, Your Kingdom is a total gift to us.

I remember You made this clear in Jesus’s parable comparing Your kingdom to a vineyard owner who hired workers at various times of the day and at the end of the day paid each worker the same - How generous! How great for us!

Grant that I may work and pray that all receive the same reward at the end of this life’s journey - eternal life with You.

I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

Operatio: Reflect on “God’s generosity” - undeserved, “good thief”, Last Rites, wonderful effects of forgiveness of our sins and life with God. Resolve in prayer to give thanks and praise to God for treating us generously and not as we deserve for nothing we can do in this life can earn eternal life with Him.

Tomorrow’s readings: Mt 22.1-14
