Lectio: Mt 23.1-12

“Whoever exalts himself, will be humbled; and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Mt 23.12

“ O God, You prize authenticity.

I remember Jesus warned against seeking seats of honors and titles for the purpose of being be recognized. Rather He taught us to be humble and paradoxically it will lead to being exalted and in the right way.

Grant that I may strive to make humility one of the virtues that orients my life.

I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

Operatio: Reflect on “humility” - knowledge of self; a virtue; a strength of character; a creature capable of virtue and capable of vice; created in God’s image and mirroring that image is the best way of being and attaining the virtue and living that way is the best way assuring that one day we will be exalted when we reach our heavenly home. Pray for the grace to accept our self as God made us and to live the way He wants and we will be authentic and humility will define us.

Tomorrow’s readings: Mt 16.13-20
