12.06.14

Lectio:    Mk 1.1-8

Meditatio: "And this is what he [ John, the Baptist] proclaimed, ‘One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water, he will baptize you with the holy Spirit’.” Mk 1.7-8

Oratio: O God, You our the source of our lasting hope.

I remember John the Baptist, responding to the hope of the people, declared that he was not the Messiah but the Messiah would be coming and will baptize with the Holy Spirit. In prayer thank God for sending the Messiah and offering us a new and deeper relationship with God as  His children.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "One mightier....coming after....water...holy Spirit” ; John the Baptist affirmed the hope of the people that the Messiah was coming and through baptism would offer a wonderful relationship - siblings of the Messiah and children of His Father.  Seek the grace to live out the relationship offered by Jesus for in doing so you will achieve the desisting that God so much wants for everyone.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 1.26-38
