12.29.14

 Lectio: Lk 2.36-40

Meditatio: "And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem.” Lk 2.38

Oratio: O God, You gift many who do Your will.

I remember Anna, a daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, who spent almost her entire adult life in the Temple in prayer and fasting, came upon the Holy Family when they were presenting the child in the Temple and consecrating Him to God as prescribed by the law. She immediately recognized Him as the savior and proclaimed this to all who were in ear-shot; and Anna, became the first evangelist of the Good News. In prayer thank God for the many, many evangelists down through the ages who followed the example of Anna for we are the wonderful beneficiaries of their work.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
 God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"she...spoke...child... redemption”; Anna coming on the scene completed the factual aspects of the fourth joyful mystery of the Rosary - the Presentation. She made known for all ages, as did Simeon. that Mary’s child was the Messiah. Seek the grace to do one’s part to spread the Good News and so fulfill our Baptismal responsibilities and do so especially by the life you live.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn1.1-18
