 12.18.14

 Lectio: Lk 1.5-25

Meditatio: "He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.” Lk 1.17

Oratio: O God, You sent prophets to prepare the people for the unfolding of Your breaking into our history.

I remember the Prophet Malachi had foretold that Elijah would prepare the people for the coming of the Messiah.  and John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way of the Lord as foretold by the angel Gabriel and confirmed by Jesus Himself.  In prayer thank God for being so solicitous for us so that we would be open to His plan of salvation for our good.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
 God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"before...Elijah...prepare a people”; John the Baptist is the spirit and has the power of Elijah and he did his best to restore all things for the Lord. Sadly, not all accepted him, chiefly the religious leaders, to the detriment of those they served. Seek the grace to be docile when it comes to God’s teachings and ways as proclaimed by the Church formy good and for the good of those whose lives I touch..

Tomorrow's reading:Lk 1.26-38
