12.27.14

 Lectio:  Lk 2.22-40

Meditatio: "And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem.” Lk 2.38

Oratio: O God, You know  the importance of spreading the good news so that salvation is made known and offered to all.

I remember Anna, who was a widow, and who never left the temple but spent each day in prayer and fasting, recognized the baby Jesus as the Messiah. She did not keep the news to herself but immediately made it know to others, thus becoming the first evangelist and showing it is not you age that counts but the light of faith and a willingness to share it. In prayer ask the Lord to be an effective evangelizer both in word and in deed.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
 God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"she...spoke....child....all”; at the heart of evangelization is faith and a willingness to share with others and then doing so.  The testimony of both Anna and Simeon about the infant Jesus when he was brought into the temple,  shows clearly that age is not a barrier to being an evangelist. Seek the grace to share the good news with others so that they, too, may be wonderfully blest.
