12.12.14

Lectio: Mt 17.9a,10-13

Meditatio: "but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever the pleased. So also will the Son of Man suffer at their hands.” Mt 17.11

Oratio: O God, You so much wanted all things to be restored for the coming of Your son.

I remember You sent John the Baptist, the Elijah that was to come, to restore all things. Sadly not all responded and You do not force people. Tragically the leaders, who should have believed, made him suffer and  they put Jesus to death as well.    In prayer seek to be open to God’s will for me; and the grace to do it for His will is what is best for me and His will can always be trusted.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "Elijah... come....nor recognize”; the Jewish scribes and many of the people believed that Elijah must come to prepare the people for the Messiah. But they did not recognize that John the Baptist was the Elijah that had come and many ignored him to their loss. Seek the grace to turn to the Lord in all things and He will not be found wanting and you will be richly blest.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 1.6-8, 19-28

P.S. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us especially today, your feast day.
