12.14.14

Lectio:  Mt 21.23-27

Meditatio: "When he had come into the temple area, the chief priests and elders of the people approached him as he was teaching and said, ‘By what authority are you doing this things? And who gave you this authority’?” Mt 21.23

Oratio: O God, those who should have accepted Your Son first, the religious leaders, did not.

I remember the religious leaders were the first to question His obvious authority for His teaching -  You!  It would be to their detriment and sadly to the people they were called to serve. Pray to readily accept the teaching authority of the Church for it has been given to it by Jesus.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "what authority...An who gave”; the religious leaders questioned Jesus as to His authority but He exposed their lack of sincerity when He in turn said He would answer their question if they would answer by whose authority was John, the Baptist, teaching. Seek the  grace of a believing heart in all matters of faith and morals proclaimed by the Catholic Church.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 21.28-32
