5.17.15

Lectio:  Jn 16.29-33

Meditatio: "Jesus answered them, ‘Do you believe now? Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone’.” Jn 16. 31, 32a

Oratio:  "O God, You know the danger of presumption and failure to rely on Your grace.

I remember Jesus’ disciples at the Last Supper declared that Jesus is God and they believe. But in less than 24 hours they abandoned Him;  but Jesus was not surprised for He warned them they would be scattered. In prayer thank Jesus for being so clear in revealing who He is and toI   always rely on Him as my refuge and strength in the face of evil.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father  and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect on "Do....believe....you....scattered          “; the disciple proclaimed they knew Jesus now as God, yet would abandon God shortly thereafter because they feared man. Seek the grace of docility and humility and a strong faith so that with God’s grace I will always be faithful.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 17.1-11a
