5.25.15

Lectio:  Mk 10.28-31

Meditatio: "Peter began to say to him, ‘We have given up everything and followed you.’ Jesus said, ‘Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in the present age.” Mk 10.28-30a

Oratio: O God, You can never be outdone in generosity.

I remember when Peter was concerned that he and the rest of disciples might be left out when they heard Jesus’ admonition to the rich young man, Jesus replied by indicating anyone who follows Him will be rewarded beyond any expectation in this life AND eternal life as well - wow!  Pray to be ever grateful to God for His kindness and generosity for the little we do.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"Peter...given everything...Jesus ...hundred times”; Peter, the practical one, wanted to know the rewards for following Jesus and Jesus in His reply informed Peter he would get so much more in the life plus eternal life. Seek the grace to follow Jesus, for Jesus’ sake, and not for what is in it for us. No matter what happens in this life, Jesus will take care of us and that is more than enough for us.

Tomorrow's reading:Mk 10.32-45
