5.28.15

Lectio:  Mk 11.11-26

Meditatio: "Early in the morning, as they were walking along, they saw the fig tree withered to its roots. Peter remember and said to him, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered’.” Mk 11. 20-21

Oratio: O God, You expect so little from us and we at times even fail to give You the minimum.

I remember the House of Judah was given everything from You and yet, they failed to bear the fruit that You expected and deserved. This was symbolized by Jesus cursing the fig tree, a symbol for Judaism, which then withered to its very roots, because it failed to produce the fruits it should. Pray to produce the love that God expects from us for it is the least we can do in return for all He has done for us..

Pray for the sight of faith of the blind man and then live by it and you will be greatly blest in t his life and in the next.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: “fig....withered...cursed....”; Judaism failed to produce the fruits that God expected and deserved; and so it withered to its very roots, which means it was no more.  Seek the grace to be what God expects of me - a person of selfless love - so that I may give Him the fruits of my work which He so much desires and deserves.

Tomorrow's reading: Mk 11.27-33
