5.24.15

Lectio:   Mk 10.17-21

Meditatio: "As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, an asked him, ‘Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life’?: Mk 10.17

Oratio: O God, in Your great love You have made eternal life Your gift to us

I remember a young man asked Jesus what he must do inherit eternal life and Jesus told him to essence “love” since love summarizes all of Your commandments and then follow Jesus. The young man was in love with his possessions and could not give them up and sadly, he missed out on the most wonderful - eternal life = Your gracious and most generous gift to us. Pray to be a person who is love with others and not in love with things.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"what...do...inherit...life”; Jesus’ reply to the young man who asked the question, that keeping the commandments was key; but following Him was essential. But the young man had his love in the wrong place and missed out on the greatest of all gifts of God. Seek the grace to have the right attitude towards things as they are intended to help us and for us to help others and to remember that nothing we could ever do earns us eternal life as it is a gift and may we be ever grateful to God for it..

Tomorrow's reading:Mk 10.28-31
