5.21.15

Lectio: Jn 21.15-19

Meditatio: "When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.’ He said to him, ‘Feed my lambs’.” Jn 21.15

Oratio: O God, Your mercy is without limit and is beyond are imagining..

I remember Jesus elicited a threefold confession of love from Peter to make amends for his three fold denial during Jesus’ trial; and in doing so not only granted Peter forgiveness but bestowed on Him the honor and responsibility to lead the church. which would be formed to carry out Jesus’ mission. Pray to avoid sin and if you have the misfortune to commit sin, to immediately turn to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness and you will find Him with open arms and willingly forgive you..

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"Simon..do....love me....feed...lambs”; in this threefold affirmation of love Peter was forgiven his threefold denial and given a major charge - to feed the lambs and the sheep - to lead the believers as a good shepherd. Seek the grace to not only confess one’s sins, but to do the work that the Lord is calling you to do.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 21.20-25
